What Should I Do Before I Call Product Assistance?

We all have those times when we’re working on our Corvette, and it’s too early, too late, or just an inconvenient time to call someone for help. Don’t fret! Corvette Central has all the answers with our helpful assortment of reference, repair, and assembly materials, covering just about any job you have in front of you.

Advice From Our Product Assistance Team

At Corvette Central, we have many years of combined knowledge and will always try our best to provide you with as much information as possible. Keep in mind that we’re not licensed mechanics, so if you have questions regarding car repairs, please refer to your shop, service, or assembly manual and/or consult a qualified automotive technician. We will help you find the products you need for repairs or help diagnose/solve an issue with a part you purchased from us.

  • Before you call our Product Assistance team, please check our website for additional photos, instructions, or information. These online resources may save you time and help you complete your project when we aren’t open or during high call volumes.
  • We highly recommend having an Assembly Manual and Factory Service Guide. Having these to refer to helps our Product Assistance team guide you to exactly what part you’re looking for.
  • Familiarize yourself with the basic information about your Corvette, including the model year, engine size, transmission type, horsepower, options, and VIN#.
  • Before you paint, cut, disassemble, modify, or re-weld any part you receive from us, read all installation instructions and contact us for help if there is an issue. We cannot accept returns on modified/damaged parts.
  • Being prepared with part information and a pen, paper, and current email address will help us answer your questions and communicate with you efficiently and accurately.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions; it’s better to ask questions than receive the wrong part.

  1. My 1996 C4 “auto door lock system” is inop. Nothing happens when approach or walk away from the car. The key lock must be used to lock/ unlock doors.
The rear hatch will open with the key fob. So the fob battery/transmitter are functioning.
The all doors will lock with the interior door door lock switch (forward of the sliding mechanical lock).
Any suggestions on restoring the auto lock function will be appreciated

  2. My 82 Vette windows work but the other day, both automatic windows stopped working. It must be a relay somewhere under the console that controls both window buttons. What should I look at and is there a walk through?

  3. Working on my 1965 now and have most everything ready to install the front headlamps and buckets. The only issue I have is what, if any, lubricant was used on the pivot assemblies. If the answer is yes, what was used and might silicone grease be better given its tolerance to temperature and moisture.

  4. Why are there steering boxes for most Corvettes, but not the 1960? Can only find a rebuild kit. The steering gear or worm gear has a bad spot that causes the steering wheel to feel like it “slips” at a certain point.

    Thanks

  5. I am looking to replace the tires on my 1994 corvette but having trouble finding many options. Any help on what tires are available and will fit safely will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

    1. A lot of customers seem to have issues finding tires for C4s, the best thing I can recommend is getting a hold of Tire Rack. We do not deal in tires much beyond the old Coker stuff.
